Plastic dentures have almost unsurpassed aesthetics in the filling of gaps at the front of the mouth. In simple cases this is often as much as you might need. Retention however, is usually not up to the standards of metal dentures or other more complicated solutions.
Metal (chrome cobalt) dentures, through the use of very strong but usually discrete clasps, allow a greater measure of confidence combined with the aesthetics of plastic.
The feared full denture can be made more bearable if it is carefully set–up and balanced, and can also be combined with implants to superb effect.
